Charles Roberts from the charity Zero Carbon World, talks to us about their groundbreaking charity dedicated to carbon reduction, and their vision of donating charging stations for electric vehicles to businesses across the UK, which will change the way we look at transport.
Electric vehicles have so far had a slow uptake despite heavy subsidies, but Zero Carbon World are already creating an extensive and growing network of EV charging stations across the country, which will make electric powered cars a serious contender for economical and energy efficient transport.

I’ve been getting out and about quite a bit recently, taking RenewablesCareers on tour, and have attended some very exciting events within the Renewable Energy Sector.
RenewablesCareers was proud to be a media partner to the excellent Renewable UK conference and exhibition in Manchester. The event was Renewable UK’s 33rd annual event dedicated to wind, wave and tidal energy. Sponsored by Siemens, more than 5,000 delegates attended the event and over 300 companies exhibited in the halls. The event was a massive success and I’m sure like many others I left with a very positive buzz about the future of Renewable Energy in this country.

Alan Bassett, Chair of NESHEP, North East Safety, Health and Environment Partnership, talks about the not for profit EMSS scheme and why the Renewables sector, together with the backing of the HSE is embracing this innovative safety passport and competency profiling scheme.
For over a decade various safety passport schemes have sprung up all over the country to satisfy clients requirements to ensure contractors have a basic foundation in health & safety knowledge enabling them to work safely on their sites. This minimum standard of health and safety knowledge enables the average worker to understand further specific/industry relevant site inductions and overall the concept of ‘safety passports’ is excellent and proven to reduce accident frequency rates overall. The problem with the myriad of schemes is the cost to the contractor support companies of complying with varying requirements from the clients and many of the awarding bodies do not recognise each others qualifications leading to confusion within the industry as to what is acceptable and what isn’t.
