All-Energy Exhibition & Conference – the UK’s largest renewable energy event taking place in ‘Europe’s Energy City’, Aberdeen, on 23 & 24th May 2012.

It presents an ideal chance to engage with over 580 exhibitors from wind, wave, tidal and solar to micro & onsite generation, CCS, geothermal, biofuels, biomass, ground source heat pumps, low carbon vehicles and much more.

Showcasing the complete range of renewable and sustainable technologies and with a world-class multi-stream conference alongside, All-Energy is the best opportunity for viewing the latest cutting edge solutions, sourcing new partners and suppliers, participating in unparalleled networking and keeping up-to-date with this rapidly evolving and increasingly important sector.

This year’s show features three new zones:

Offshore Maintenance – where offshore wind meets oil and gas grasps the growing synergy between the offshore oil and gas industry and the offshore wind industry, as wind farms are planned in ever deeper water, further from shore and in more hostile territory, and it highlights business opportunities in the operation and maintenance areas during a typical wind farm life cycle of 26 years. The seminar theatre in this zone of the show will be a buzz with regular presentations and panel discussions that delve into those opportunities.

Smart Energy – showcases energy efficiency, energy management and effective use of onsite renewables and microgeneration. Exhibition stands surround a dedicated seminar area where exhibitors, and others, are invited to give case histories and technical briefings. In addition, to one-to-one advice sessions from exhibitors on their stands, the BPVA will coordinate the ‘Solar PV Knowledge Centre’, offering an ideal platform to meet the solar industry and be updated on everything from Feed-In Tariffs to technology.

Low Carbon Vehicles – presenting the latest in hydrogen, electric and hybrid transport, the zone will showcase the capabilities of these vehicles.

The 2012 Conference will once again pull in the crowds, featuring 48 sessions, and including ministerial input from Westminster & Holyrood at the highest level.

What is Climate Week?

Followers of Twitter might have noticed #ClimateWeek in their timeline, viewers of BBC’s Countryfile might have heard it mentioned in this week’s programme, and your kids might have come home from school with a leaflet, but just what is Climate Week all about?

It’s a nationwide event running this week from 12th to 18th March, whose aim is to raise awareness of our cumulative and individual responsibility to do our bit to combat climate change.  Organisers are hoping to increase last year’s successful inaugural event which saw over 3,000 events and half a million participants across the UK.

Charities, businesses, the NHS, schools and the Met Office are joining hands with the Girl Guides, Tesco, the Prime Minister and Sir Paul McCartney to name but a few.   They hope to inspire and showcase ideas and initiatives large and small in homes, schools, businesses and government departments across the UK, all of which have the common goal of creating a sustainable future.

There are events all around the country from Pub Quizzes, use less paper days, leave your car at home day, sustainable construction seminars, eat low carbon and food waste reduction initiatives, and for footie fans even Tottenham Hotspur are having a Compost Challenge! (I’m expecting comments about this one!)

If you are inspired to make a difference there is an easy download on the organiser’s site here, with a one hour challenge for your team to green up your space.   Think about it, even the smallest ideas and commitments, from recycling in the office, turning the thermostat down just one degree, not leaving your PC on standby overnight, all of these cumulatively can make a really big difference.

You might have more ambitious ideas which could change your company policy or even your home town.  And for those of you with a competitive and entrepreneurial streak this isn’t just for fun, you can enter your team’s idea for judging and winners could see their plans developed into a commercial  proposition with the help of professional marketing people and with a visit to the Nissan Innovation Station at the O2 in London on offer too.  Your ideas will be judged by a panel which includes Springwatch’s Kate Humble, Liz Bonnin of Bang Goes the Theory and Bruce Parry of Two’s Tribe among others.

So get your thinking caps on, don’t just throw your plastic bottle in the bin, use a bit less paper, throw away less food, make intelligent choices, have a word with your boss about your ideas, and do something special today, be part of Climate Change Week.

One way of making a difference on a daily basis is to develop your career in Renewable Energy, for inspiration   Register free here now and become part of the change once you’ve registered you can  sign up for Jobs By Email here, and get regular tailored updates direct to your inbox each time a new vacancy gets posted on our site.
